Consume-create ratio
I start to feel anxious when I’m consuming a lot of information from podcasts and books, and I suspect it’s partly because my brain doesn’t know what to do with all the unorganized information. I’ve learned that I can dispel this anxiety through writing. Whether it’s taking notes, recording thoughts in a journal, or publishing a blog post, writing seems to do the trick.
I feel like this is touching on a broader principle that could be called “consume-create ratio.” The idea is that you can only consume so much information before your brain starts begging you to do something with it. And when you get the right ratio of consume and create (whatever that ratio is), you’re in equilibrium.
